India vs England: Dhoni poised to inspire hosts to another win

The headlines may have been more about England’s dismal demise than anything else following their one day whitewash, but India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni deserves just as much praise as England are getting criticism.

He’s been brilliant throughout the tour and looks a completely different player to the one who led India to their own 5-0 test series whitewash in England last summer.

He’s been composed in his job as wicketkeeper and inspirational as captain – but his work with the bat has also been brilliant throughout the series, with England yet to dismiss the impressive skipper.

He top scored for India in the first game, smashing 87 off 70 balls but wasn’t needed to bat in the second game as India swept aside England with the minimum of fuss.

The third test saw him hit 35 off 31, while he hit 15 off 18 balls in the fourth.

He was once again India’s top scorer in the fifth game with an undefeated 75 off 69 balls.

With Dhoni high on confidence, the T20 clash this Saturday looks set to be the perfect stage for the 30-year-old to show off his extravagant batting style.

Having already top scored twice in the one-day series, backing Dhoni at 5/1 to be India’s top scorer this Saturday could lead to a very decent pay out.

Meanwhile, India head into the game as 8/13 favourites with England out at 5/4 to salvage some pride.

With Dhoni in-form with the bat and Ravindra Jadeja and Ravinchandran Ashwin expected to get plenty of turn with the ball, backing an India win looks the sensible bet.
