Frankie Cocozza favourite for X Factor exit after cocky performance

Published:

After a week in which he was barely out of the tabloids for his antics away from X Factor, Frankie Cocozza is finally making headlines for his work on the show – but not in the way he or mentor Gary Barlow would want.

Frankie is now the 1/1 favoutite to be the sixth person eliminated from the competition after a performance of Primal Scream’s Get Your Rocks Off that made Bobby Gillespie look like a shy, retiring wallflower.

In fact, Primal Scream were rather miffed with their song being used by Barlow’s boy and took to Twitter to say: “Sorry to hear “Rocks” was used on X-Factor. We don’t endorse this.”

They weren’t the only ones who were disappointed by the performance, with none of the judges particularly blown away by the 19-year-old.

Tulisa was the most scathing, saying: “I’m slightly gobsmacked. I feel like we’ve lost Frankie, I feel like we don’t like you anymore.

“I think Gary’s trying to make you what he wanted to be in his younger days. You’ve lost that innocence.”

Meanwhile, Gary admitted his charge had been disappointing and that he’d lied the previous week to make sure he made it through.

Making the squeaky-clean Gary Barlow lie is hardly likely to endear the teenager to a public who are starting to tire of his antics.

Backing Frankie to go this evening looks a very decent bet at 1/1.

However, he is at least interesting and the same can’t be said for second elimination favourite, Sami Brookes (9/4), who underwhelmed with her performance of Cher’s Turn Back Time

Meanwhile, The Risk look safe and are out at a massive 100/1 to be booted off.
