Fallon full of praise for Dubai Prince ahead of Champion Stakes

Kieren Fallon has warned punters not to exclude Dubai Prince from their shortlists for the Champion Stakes at Ascot.

All of the talk ahead of the Champion Stakes has largely revolved around the prospective head-to-head between So You Think and young pretender Nathaniel.

This has caused Dubai Prince to slip slightly under the radar, but he has done little wrong in remaining unbeaten in all of his three starts to date.

After a promising two-year-old career, Dubai Prince was robbed of the opportunity to tackle the big Group One contests earlier this summer because of a hairline fracture of his pelvic region.

Dubai Prince did make a triumphant return to action last month when beating Jet Away at Newbury, who has since gone on to win well at York.

Fallon was particularly impressed with the manner of Dubai Prince’s victory and believes at 9/1 in the Ascot odds he is the forgotten horse of the Champion Stakes.

The six-time champion jockey said in his Racing Post Weekender column: “The one that could surprise everyone is Dubai Prince, who impressed me enormously when I rode him at Newbury last month. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

“The form of that race has been franked by Jet Away last week at York. Dubai Prince could have picked up and carried Sir Henry Cecil’s runner at Newbury, such was the ease of his victory.”

Despite his rave reviews of Dubai Prince, Fallon will ride Green Destiny in the Champion Stakes.

Fallon has already partnered Green Destiny to two big Group Three victories this season and certainly feels the horse is worthy of a spot in Group One company for the first time.

Green Destiny is 20/1 to win the Champion Stakes, but he did run poorly on his only previous appearance at Ascot.
