England to be sent into spin again in second Indian one-day clash
Published:England may have governed India for virtually the whole summer on home soil, but the saying of the boot being on the other foot certainly springs to mind now in India after the performance in the first one-day international in Hyderabad.
India’s 126-run victory was their second highest ever against England in a one-day international and captain Alastair Cook certainly has his work cut out to get his team back on the right track for the remainder of the series.
Although England did not do themselves many favours in terms of sloppy fielding and bowling 14 wides, these problems should be easily remedied.
What may not be so easy to put right is facing spin on sub-continental pitches, which is something that many of the batsmen will immediately have to come to terms with.
India spin duo Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin were the architects of the English downfall, both taking three wickets to return best ever bowling figures against England in the process.
The pair are likely to be major players again in the second one-day clash in Delhi, where if India are smart they will look to prepare the pitch in a similar manner.
Based on England’s struggles, it is hard not to fancy another Indian victory and this can be backed at 8/11.
England’s cricket odds are 11/10 to beat India and batting first could be a boost to their chances, as there is every possibility that the ball may keep low and the bounce will become more uneven as the game progresses.
Meanwhile, taking early wickets is another must for England as India do not bat too deep down their line up and appear to have a long tail that can be exposed.
