Chance for rookies to shine for India vs England part four

With England expected to make some changes for the fourth one-day international with India, it may pay to side with one of their inexperienced bowlers to star with the ball.

England opted to remain unchanged through the first three one-day showdowns in India and this decision has arguably backfired as the series is already over with two games still remaining.

The big problem is that England still seem inept at producing their best on sub-continent pitches and this is not a new development.

Therefore, with the series lost, England look likely to hand some experience to two or three fringe players in the hope of bolstering their development.

Fast bowler Stuart Meaker is almost certain to be given an opportunity to show his capabilities, while the fact that the pitch at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai should favour slower bowling may also mean that leg spinner Scott Borthwick will feature.

Both are 4/1 in the cricket odds to be England’s top wicket-taker in the fourth one-day international.

Meanwhile, Ian Bell may get a first game of the tour with the bat and is 6/1 to be England’s top runscorer in Mumbai.

India may be less likely to make major changes as not only will they have their sights set on a 5-0 series victory, but they are already without a number of their top stars for various reasons.

However, with Umesh Yadev picking up an injury in the previous game, there is a bowling spot for one of inexperienced pace duo Abhimanyu Mithun or Varun Aaron to fill.

Manoj Tiwary is the only batsmen pushing for an opportunity to display his credentials and he can be backed at 10/1 to be India’s top runscorer, although it is largely expected that the batting line-up will remain unchanged.
