Wenger in trouble as Arsenal’s star man is ruled out until Christmas

Jack Wilshere will play no part in the first half of Arsenal’s season after failing to respond well to treatment on his ankle injury.

Having picked up the injury in a pre-season friendly with the New York Red Bulls, Wilshere was confident of being fit for the start of October but the young England midfielder will not feature in an Arsenal shirt until at least Christmas.

It’s yet another blow to Arsenal’s season and with Thomas Vermaelen unlikely to feature until the middle of October, Arsenal will have to continue without two staples of the side for the immediate future.

Aaron Ramsey has covered well in Wilshere’s absence but the Welshman has often found himself carrying an Arsenal team that is struggling to get going this season.

Today’s game with Bolton will give us a greater insight into how Arsenal are going to fare this season and a loss today would spell real trouble for Wenger.

Bolton have never won a Premier League clash at the Emirates although they have drawn five of the 13 clashes in North London.

Arsenal are the 4/9 favourites to win today, a very short price considering their recent form, but punters believe this game is there for the Gunners to take.

So it would be another big upset to Arsenal’s season were they to drop points today and having received a vote of confidence from the Arsenal board earlier in the week, Wenger’s position would be in serious trouble,

A Bolton win is unlikely at 13/2 but the draw is a very real possibility at 10/3 considering Bolton are the third highest scores in the league this season and Arsenal have the worst defence.

Wenger is 5/1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave and should Arsenal fail to take all three points today, we could see the next managerial casualty of the season.
