Swansea vs West Brom: Baggies to inflict more misery on Swans

Published:

The euphoria of their promotion to the Premier League hasn’t taken long to wear off and Swansea City are currently enduring a miserable time of things.

The Swans will be without defender Steven Caulker for up to eight weeks with a knee injury, while their deadline day signings of Darnel Situ and Rafik Halliche are being blocked by FIFA.

It leaves Brendan Rogers’ side extremely light at the back and it looks as though Captain Gary Monk will have to make his first appearance of the season following a long term injury.

He could have his work cut out…

Match odds

Swansea City have yet to win a game in the Premier League and are still searching for their first goal, making them the only team in Premier League history not score in their opening four games.

They showed in goalless draws with Wigan Athletic and Sunderland that they are hard to beat though and they were unlucky in their 1-0 defeat at Arsenal last week, with only a howler from goalkeeper Michel Vorm costing them.

The home side are currently narrow 8/5 favourites to win this game but, with the Swans having a threadbare defence and a misfiring forward line, West Brom could prove the better bet at 9/5.

The Baggies saw off newly-promoted Norwich City 1-0 last weekend and Roy Hodgson’s side have lost just two of their previous eight Premier League away games.

Goal markets

With Swansea yet to score this season and West Brom hitting the net just three times in four league games – and never more than once per game – backing under 2.5 goals looks a cracking bet at 4/6.

Finally, Peter Odemwingie got off the mark for the Baggies against Norwich last week and he can be backed at 7/4 to score at any time.
