Stoke vs Manchester United: Wait to continue for Stoke

Stoke have already taken points off Chelsea in the Premier League this season, but if history is anything to go by Manchester United will have no such problems at the Britannia Stadium.

Manchester United have made 100 per cent start to the campaign with five successive victories, with the nine goals of Wayne Rooney playing an influential role in this run.

This start has been their best to a new season since 1986.

It is 8/15 that Manchester United make it six out of six this season by beating Stoke and they can count the Potters among their favourite Premier League opposition.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s team have won all six of their Premier League meetings with Stoke and have conceded just two goals in the process.

Sorting out their lack of goals is one area of improvement needed by Stoke if they are to finally take some points of Manchester United and there chances will not be helped by the fact that Kenwyne Jones is out with a hamstring problem.

Not only do they typically have trouble scoring against Manchester United, but they have only found the net on three occasions in their opening five games.

However, they are especially tough to beat at home, as they have lost just one of their last 11 Premier League games at the Britannia.

Rooney’s flying start to the season means that he is the obvious favourite to open the scoring at 3/1, but Nani could prove the better value in this market at 8/1.

Meanwhile, the best bet of the whole game could be the 1/1 that under 2.5 goals are scored, with Stoke liable to keep things tight and be tough to break down.

These facts also mean there is some appeal in the correct scoreline market in Manchester United prevailing 1-0 at 6/1.
