Stoke vs Liverpool: Britannia win to remain a problem for Liverpool

Published:

Liverpool have never triumphed at Stoke in the Premier League and despite their inspired start to the current campaign, there is every chance that this winless run will continue.

Of their three visits to the Britannia Stadium, Liverpool have drawn two and lost one and the 9/4 in the Premier League odds that the points are shared again is perhaps the best bet on offer.

Stoke have avoided defeat in all barring one of their last ten top-flight home games and they are currently enjoying their best ever Premier League start.

They are certainly capable of building on this with a victory over Liverpool, which can be backed 12/5.

Liverpool are perhaps understandably the 6/5 favourites to claim maximum points and in Luis Suarez they have arguably one of the leading five players in the Premier League this season.

An on-song Suarez is tough to stop and if he turns it on at the Britannia, then Liverpool could move to ten points from their opening four games.

Correct Scoreline

However, with the draw predicted, it is hard to decide whether the game will end goalless or 1-1.

Goals do not find goals easy to come by and have only netted twice in their last five Premier League games and in only two of their last six top-flight fixtures with Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have netted in 12 of their last 13 away games.

It is 8/1 that the game ends 0-0 and also 8-1 that the final score is 1-1.

After being criticised by England boss Fabio Capello in the past week, Andy Carroll will want to use the clash to prove his credentials.

Carroll is 11/2 to open the scoring and 13/8 to find the target at any point within the 90 minutes.
