Norwich relegation odds lengthen after Sunderland win

Norwich City’s Monday night victory over a rather disjointed Sunderland has seen their relegation odds lengthen.

Goals from Leon Barnett and Steve Morison were enough to give them their first consecutive Premier League wins since victories against Newcastle United and Charlton back in May 2005 and, perhaps more significantly, it was their first home win of the new campaign.

The Canaries were joint 4/6 favourites with Swansea City to go straight back to the Championship prior to the game, but have now lengthened to 4/5.

Their next home game is even more crucial as they face the Swans a week Saturday.

Swansea have won three of their previous four games against the Canaries and the last meeting between the sides saw the Swans run out comfortable 3-0 winners.

With a trip to Old Trafford waiting for them this Saturday – a ground they haven’t won at since 1989 – it’s hard to see their odds lengthening any further any time soon, making the current 4/5 offered for them to go down look a rather tempting bet.

Meanwhile, Sunderland’s erratic start to the season continued and they looked completely devoid of ideas for long spells at Carrow Road.

It was a far cry from the side who dispatched Stoke 4-0 last week and leaves the Black Cats on a disappointing five points after six games.

Sunderland are currently 5/1 to be relegated from the Premier League, while rock bottom Bolton Wanderers are 11/4 to be playing outside of the top tier for the first time since 2001.
