Moyes admits concerns as Arsenal pursue Everton midfielder Fellaini

Everton boss David Moyes is determined not to let the sale of Mikel Arteta become a precedent as Arsenal once again target one of his top players.

Marouane Fellaini was rumoured to be leaving Goodison Park in the summer after contract negotiations stalled, with the Gunners favourite to get his signature.

Fellaini has still not signed a new deal and Arsenal are still interested, but Moyes is convinced he can keep Fellaini and their current crop of players happy – despite selling Arteta.

He said: “Yes, there is a danger that selling Mikel could set a precedent, but I hope not. I would like to think we can hang onto our best players.

“But there is always a danger when someone goes after saying they want to leave that it could set a precedent, and we will have to be careful of that.”

Everton currently value the midfielder at £15million but that would come crashing down if an extension on his current deal isn’t signed – a major concern for the cash-strapped Toffees.

It continues to be a worrying time for Everton who host Wigan this weekend and are currently 4/7 to get their second win of the season.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich are allegedly keen to sign Chelsea winger Florent Malouda, according to talkSPORT.

Bayern did rather well the last time they signed a Chelsea winger, with Arjen Robben continuing to impress.

It’s hard to see this deal going through though as Andres Villas-Boas has repeatedly said the player is an important part of his plans.

With several players leaving for the African Cup of Nations in January, the Blues will be keen to keep the Frenchman if they are to mount a serious assault on the Champions League, which they are currently 10/1 to win.
