Mourinho keeps watch as new Zidane is given Real Madrid chance

Zinedine Zidane may have soured his reputation in the 2006 World Cup final, but there is no doubting the quality that the Frenchman brought to the football pitch.

Now working as a sporting director at Real Madrid, Zidane’s legacy on the game is expanding with the news that his son, Enzo Zidane, is being earmarked as a potential Real Madrid great.

The 16-year-old was invited to train with the first team under the eye of Jose Mourinho yesterday and the left-sided midfielder is on the verge of a promotion to the Real Madrid B team.

Currently starring in the Real Madrid C team, Enzo was being tracked by Manchester United and Juventus over the course of the summer and it seems the youngster has inherited his father’s skills with a football.

Training with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil will just enhance the boys reputation and canny punters would do well to keep an eye on the youngster’s progression.

The Spanish national set-up are certainly keeping eyes on Enzo and after narrowly missing out on a place in the Spanish U-16 squad, may well be called into the Spanish U-17 squad.

Born in France, Enzo has lived in Madrid for the past 10 years and qualifies to play for both France and Spain.

Zinedine has previously suggested that it is he who will make the decision on what country his son plays for, and considering Real Madrid have been so good to him, playing for Spain is a very real possibility for Enzo.

If the player is as good as Real Madrid believe he is, France need to work quickly to secure Enzo’s future in the national side and we could see Enzo making plenty of headlines in the near future.
