Tiger Woods to feature highly in Australian Open golf betting odds

The Australian Open is possibly the biggest event on the PGA Tour of Australasia and provides the world’s best golfers the chance to finish their season with a bit of sunshine and a big paycheque.

Some of the biggest names in golf regularly compete in the Australian Open and there are always plenty of enticing Australian Open golf odds to take advantage of.

This year promises to be no different with Tiger Woods set to tee it up at Sydney this November. He believes his troublesome knee is better than ever and he could be well worth a bet to get back to his best at the season-ending event.

However, many players will already be looking ahead to the 2012 season…

Donald, Westwood and Woods to dominate golf betting odds in 2012

With all the golf majors done and dusted for 2011 and the FedEx Cup over on the PGA Tour, many players will already have their minds set on what they can achieve in 2012.

Many questions will be asked and answered in 2012, most notably whether Tiger Woods will return to anything like his best having appointed a new caddie.

Joe LaCava has left Dustin Johnson to join forces with Woods and will be optimistic of succeeding where Steve Williams failed in aiding the 14-time major winner in his quest to end a two-year wait for a tournament success.

A return to form for Woods would not reignite his challenge to regain his position as the number-one ranked golfer in the world, but also boost his chances of making the USA team for the 2012 Ryder Cup.

Davis Love III captain’s the American team at Medinah and knows that an on-song Woods would significantly enhance the chances of a USA victory on home soil.

USA are 1/1 in the Ryder Cup odds to win the team event on their own patch, with Europe the same price to triumph for the fifth time in six renewals.

If Europe are to be successful, then Luke Donald and Lee Westwood are likely going to need to play well and the English duo will also be the target of many questions in 2012.

Both are still waiting to win a first major despite their lengthy time in the upper echelons of the game and Donald in particular will be disappointed not to have triumphed given the consistency of his game in 2011.

Rory McIlroy will be another pivotal member of the European team and he will be keen to add to his major collection after winning the 2011 US Open.
