Frustrated Pardew looks big to be next Premier League boss to go

Newcastle may have made a promising start to the season, but Alan Pardew may still be the value bet in the next Premier League manager to leave market.

Seven points from their opening three Premier League games has seen Newcastle sit in the dizzy heights of sixth in the table, while they have also progressed to the third round of the Carling Cup.

However, not all seems well within the camp, as Pardew struggled to bring in as many faces as he hoped to before the closing of the transfer window, particularly in attack.

Almost £13m was spent on acquisitions including Davide Santon from Inter Milan, Yohan Cabaye from French champions Lille and former Manchester United star Gabriel Obertan, while Demba Ba and Sylvain Marveaux arrived on free transfers.

However, with Newcastle having sold Andy Carroll for £35m in January and watching Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton and Jose Enrique leave in the summer, Pardew is perhaps right in expecting more money to spend to reinforce and improve the squad.

Pardew had made it clear in public all summer that he was hopeful of signing a world-class striker and it is hard not to agree that he was let down badly by the club in this quest.

Some rumours have suggested that Pardew is considering quitting because of the club’s transfer policy and his frustrations with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley and managing director Derek Llambias.

If this is true, Pardew is a massive price at 8/1 in the Premier League odds to be the next manager to leave.

Steve Kean currently heads this market at 11/10 and his position as Blackburn manager must be under serious threat soon if the club’s results do not improve after losing their first three games.
