Forget the draw, England will demoralise Wales at Wembley

I hope Gary Speed savoured the win against Montenegro because the spirit in the Wales camp is set to drop again come Wednesday.

Speed picked up his first win as Wales manager last Friday when his side upset the odds to defeat Montenegro, but Wales will have to defy even bigger odds if they are to beat England at Wembley on Tuesday night.

Wales are a massive 14/1 to win on Tuesday night and considering they haven’t drawn a game in 33 matches, a win looks to be their only option.

England were much more impressive in Bulgaria last Friday when strolling to a 3-0 win over a lacklustre Bulgaria side, and with Fabio Capello set to keep faith in the team that coped so easily, it’s going to be tough for Wales.

The passion of this local derby will make it a totally different game from the one England faced in Sofia and the England squad must respect that.

Wales come into the game off the back of a morale-boosting win and the whole squad will be raring to go on Tuesday night, but England have the players and capability to dampen the spirits of the Welsh squad.

Not only are England 1/7 to win but they are also 1/2 to win with three or more goals scored in the match.

Capello’s side are 1/9 to score first, 8/13 to keep a clean sheet and 8/11 to win to nil.

The favoured time of the first goal is in the first 10 minutes at 9/4 and England are favoured to win by four or more goals at 11/4.

There are 10 England players ahead of the first Welsh player in the first goalscorer betting and Wayne Rooney is 2/5 to score at any time.

The betting makes for bleak reading if you are a Wales fan and Speed will have some job to do restoring his squad’s confidence should the bookies’ predictions come true.
