Brazilian bond will see wonderkid head to Stamford Bridge

Fulham’s Craven Cottage may have been the setting for Brazil’s friendly with Ghana yesterday, but it was the Chelsea fans who will have shown more interest.

While Ronaldinho grabbed the headlines in the build-up to the game, Chelsea’s Brazilian defender David Luiz was working hard to convince Brazil’s star striker that Chelsea is the right club for him.

Neymar was the standout performer once again in Brazil’s 1-0 victory, and while he didn’t manage to bag the goal, the Santos striker proved once again why he is the player that carries the most hype in world football.

Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all in hot pursuit of the 19-year-old and if the rumours in Brazil are to be believed, Neymar could be on his way to Europe in January.

Luiz has been working on his compatriot while the two players linked up for international duty this week and the defender believes Chelsea are firmly on Neymar’s radar.

“I would definitely like Neymar in my team but it is up to him to decide where he wants to play,” said Luiz.

“But I hope he signs for Chelsea. Neymar’s getting to know London and he likes it very much.

“I love it here, too. It’s one of the best cities in the world – all I miss is the beach.”

Andres Villas-Boas is yet to convince the betting public that he is the man to lead Chelsea to the Premier League title – Chelsea have drifted out to 4/1 to win the title following the opening three games.

However should the Portuguese manage to capture Neymar’s signature ahead of Barcelona and Real Madrid, you can guarantee Chelsea will generate plenty of buzz in the betting.

Chelsea are yet to fire but have started the season strongly and the addition of Neymar in January would be a real boost to their title prospects.
