Wigan vs QPR: Rangers can continue strong start at the DW

Published:

This may be Wigan’s strongest start to a Premier League campaign in seven years, but in Queens Park Rangers they face yet another newly-promoted side.

The Latics have opened their season with draws at home to Norwich and away to Swansea, and if you haven’t seen the pattern forming yet, this looks likely to end in the same way.

Match Odds

QPR ruined most punters’ accumlators with a 1-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park, and it was the first time Neil Warnock’s side had shown they can compete in the top division following a 4-0 drubbing at home to Bolton on the opening day.

Consecutive away wins will be on Warnock’s mind, especially against a side who are considered to be a relegation favourite and QPR are 11/5 to win.

However, Wigan’s opening two games speak for themselves and considering the Latics haven’t beaten QPR at home in any of their three meetings, the draw looks the pick at 9/4.

Wigan haven’t been beaten at home since February, while QPR could boast the best away record in the league last February.

Wigan are 5/4 to win and their inconsistency makes them a tricky team to judge, but the draw pattern looks certain to continue.

Total Goals

The two sides have mustered just two goals between them this season and it doesn’t look as if we’re in for a goal-fest at the DW Stadium with the six previous meetings between these two providing just nine goals.

Under 2.5 goals is available at 4/6, while a 0-0 scoreline is priced at 8/1 and a 1-1 scoreline 11/2.

Preference would be for the 1-1 scoreline, considering eight of Wigan’s 16 draws last season finished that way.

Wigan went behind in six of their 18 draws last season but six of those finished 0-0 and punters can find plenty of value in backing Wigan to come from behind and draw at 7/1.
