West Brom vs Stoke: Stoke searching Hawthorns hat-trick

Published:

West Bromwich Albion may be yet to pick up a point in the league this season, but they have started their campaign with games against Manchester United and Chelsea.

In both fixtures Roy Hodgson’s men have been unlucky not to come away with anything, and the Baggies showed in their 4-1 drubbing of Bournemouth in midweek that they are a team to be reckoned with.

Match Odds

However, in Stoke they face a side they are yet to beat in the Premier League and after thumping FC Thun 4-1 at the Britannia on Thursday night, the Potters are high in confidence.

West Brom have been handed an extra two days of rest compared to Stoke and with the home advantage they are 11/10 to win.

Stoke are terrible away from home – last year they would have been relegated on away form alone – but they enjoy traveling to West Brom and at 13/5 to win, they offer heaps of value.

Away wins may be very rare but considering they are yet to be beaten by West Brom at the Hawthorns in the Premier League, Stoke will be relishing this clash.

Stoke have won seven of their last nine clashes with West Brom and considering the two had a fierce rivalry in the Championship, that’s strong form to go on.

Total Goals

Surprisingly this has been a fixture that has produced plenty of goals in recent years, mainly for Stoke.

Stoke have scored twice or more in five of the last nine and in three of their last four at the Hawthorns leaving the 5/1 for Stoke to score over 2.5 goals a very tempting bet.

Last season it finished 3-0 to Stoke and Jonathan Walters netted twice.

Kenwyne Jones has three goals in his last two starts but Walters looks the more attractive pick at 7/1 to score first.
