Wenger has already made a move to replace Cesc with Brazilian
Published:Friday press conferences are usually reserved for questions about Saturday’s Premier League game, but questions on Arsenal’s trip to Newcastle were shortcoming.
The English journalists have been attacking Arsene Wenger with questions about Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas this morning but the Arsenal manager’s first response was: “Cesc is not injured, he’s not match fit. I don’t want to go any deeper than that.”
Despite setting out his stall Wenger still had to endure questions on Arsenals future and bar a brief respite when the Japanese journalists interjected with questions about Ryo Miyachi, Wenger has confirmed neither Fabregas or Nasri will be in the squad for the opening game of the season.
But while Fabregas and Nasri dominate the headlines, Wenger is believed to have made a move for Shakhtar Donetsk’s 27-year-old midfielder Jadson.
The Brazilian played a key role in Shakhtar’s title winning season last year and also chipped in with two goals in 10 Champions League appearances as the Ukrainian side reached the quarter-finals.
Like all Brazilians, Jadson is admired for his great skill on the ball but while he may be an attacking midfielder, he will bring plenty of bite to the Arsenal team lacking in leadership.
Arsenal have approached Shakhtar with a £12m bid for their midfielder, a bid that is believed to have been accepted and Jadson could be arriving at the Emirates this weekend.
Having made his debut for Brazil against France earlier this year, the midfielder made four appearances in the Copa America, impressing enough to replace Robinho in the starting line-up for the Paraguay match – a game in which he opened the scoring with a spectacular shot.
Some papers are reporting that Arsenal have already completed the signing of Jadson but there has been no official word from Arsenal as we wait to see what happens in the wake of Fabregas and Nasri’s moves away.
