The Safety Net: Janet’s Pearl can claim Ripon honours

Published:

The safety net bet has steered clear of horse racing for a little while, but we could not turn down Janet’s Pearl today, who looks almost impossible to oppose at Ripon.

Everything seems in the favour of Janet’s Pearl as she attempts to win the 14:00 at Ripon, which is the ripon-races.co.uk Selling Stakes, run over 1m1f.

Most notably, Paul Midgley’s runner looks well ahead of his seven opponents on adjusted official ratings and could be as much as 23lb well in.

Furthermore, Janet’s Pearl has triumphed in two of her three previous runs in selling company and finished second in the other, meaning that she is proven against today’s calibre of rival.

Ripon can sometimes prove a tricky track to negotiate, but Janet’s Pearl is a course winner, having landed the honours in a similar race at the venue in early July.

Her jockey that day was Paul Hanagan and the favourite to win the jockey’s championship is in the saddle again today as he looks to add another winner to his collection.

Of her rivals, only En Fuego is likely to present any sort of challenge as he is dropped in grade, but is unlikely to be able to concede a large amount of weight to the favourite.

With Roma drawing in the Europa League last week, we are hoping that Janet’s Pearl can begin a new winning streak for the safety net bet.

Janet’s Pearl is 4/9 to win at Ripon and so we will be staking £45 on this result to fulfil our aim of making £20 each day.

Wealth warning: although we are confident the safety net bet’s strategy will be profitable over a period of time, the nature of sport means we cannot guarantee you will win every single time.
