The Safety Net: Isner to keep the tennis momentum in full swing
Tennis tournament hopping has proved a decent strategy for the safety net bet so far this week and we will continue this mentality today by selecting John Isner to triumph at the Winston-Salem Open.
So far this week we have correctly picked Sabine Lisicki to win a match at the Texas Tennis Open and then Francesca Schiavone to defeat Monica Niculescu at the New Haven Open.
Today we move to the final men’s preparation tournament ahead of the US Open in Greensboro, North Carolina, which is the hometown tournament for Isner.
Isner faces Jarkko Nieminen in third round action and the Finn is an opponent that he has beaten in both of their previous meetings.
One of these was in Isner’s first US Open in 2007 and what is perhaps notable about this victory was that it was when the American was a far less polished player and Nieminen was arguably more on the top of his game.
Isner’s recent form is also strong as in some of his latest hard court events he has reached a final in Atlanta before losing to Mardy Fish and then succumbed to a third-set tie-break to Gael Monfils in the semi finals in Washington.
Both of these opponents are far superior to Nieminen and a repeat of either of these performances should see him comfortably progress.
Meanwhile, Isner’s booming serve also looks on song as he sent down 17 aces on his way to blitzing Dudi Sela in the opening round in the Winston-Salem Open.
Isner is 2/7 in the tennis odds to beat Nieminen and we will be staking £70 on this outcome in order to fulfil our daily aim of making £20.
Today’s stake: £70
Best case scenario: £499
Worst case scenario: £409
Last Safety Net bet: Francesca Schiavone to beat Monica Niculescu @ 1/5
Wealth warning: although we are confident the safety net bet’s strategy will be profitable over a period of time, the nature of sport means we cannot guarantee you will win every single time.
