Real Madrid are ready to do a deal with Bolton for midfielder

Owen Coyle and the Bolton Wanderers hierarchy are hoping to complete something neither Valencia nor Getafe could do this summer.

Both of the Spanish clubs were successful in bids for Real Madrid’s winger Pedro Leon this summer, but neither side could convince the player to make the move away from the Spanish capital.

Bolton are the latest club to have made an offer for Leon, an offer that has been accepted by Real, and now the club are to start the negotiations with a player who is not keen on moving.

Real Madrid are keen to get Leon off of the wage bill and have accepted a number of offers, but the player still believes he can force his way in to Jose Mourinho’s side, although the Real manager has other ideas.

Bolton have their work cut out if they want to snare the 24-year-old, but the winger would be a real coup for Coyle and his side and would bring some much needed dynamism to the Reebok Stadium.

Having made the move from Getafe last summer for €10m, Leon could only manage 14 appearances in a Real Madrid shirt and scored just twice.

However in his time at Getafe, the winger was a constant presence in the first team and during the 2009/10 season, Leon played 42 games for Getafe, scoring nine goals and providing 11 assists.

Darren Pratley, Nigel Reo-Coker and Chris Eagles have all come in to the Bolton midfield this summer but none of the trio carry as much quality that Leon does, and the Spaniard would be a real marquee signing for Bolton.

Bolton are lacking in the striking department and not only would Leon provide better service, but the occasional goal would be a huge benefit to Bolton.

For a team that is chasing Europe, Leon could make the difference in tight games and spirits at the Reebok would be high should Bolton capture the winger.
