Premier League Preview: The best and worst bets for relegation
Published:The Premier League season is almost upon us and some good and bad value can be found in the Premier League betting markets.
Best Bets
Wigan – 13/8 to be relegated
Charles N’Zogbia was the Latics’ talisman in the last campaign, scoring nine goals and assisting five. Having failed to replace his mercurial talent Wigan look in grave danger of finding the drop this season.
Norwich – 4/7 to be relegated
In the last five seasons at least one of the new boys has dropped out of the division and this season it looks like the Canaries will face the drop. Paul Lambert’s side enjoyed back-to-back promotions in the last two seasons but staying in the Premier League at the first time of asking looks beyond them.
Blackburn – 3/1 to be relegated
Phil Jones was integral in keeping Blackburn up in Steve Kean’s early tenure as Rovers boss and he hasn’t been replaced. Up front David Goodwillie has come from Dundee United but expecting the 22-year-old to score the goals to keep them in the division is a big ask and Kean could be one of the first casualties of the season.
Worst Bets
West Brom – 4/1 to be relegated
Staying in the Premier League is all about scoring goals and in Peter Odemwingie West Brom have a striker who netted 15 times in the league last season. Hodgson did a sterling job to steady the ship following his appointment in January and has never suffered relegation in his managerial career.
QPR – 13/8 to be relegated
The three newly promoted sides are always amongst the favourites to go down, but in the last three seasons, two of the three have stayed in the division. Neil Warnock has also been active in the transfer market with some solid signings while also keeping hold of his best players.
Swansea – 4/7 to be relegated
Swansea are favourites for the drop but of the last six teams playing in the top flight for the first time, four have stayed up at the first attempt. We’re backing Scott Sinclair to finally show his potential at the top and have an influential impact on Swansea’s season.
