Pick of the Pundits: Cape Classic to soar to success at Ffos Las

Published:

The first day of a new month brought 13 winning naps in the Racing Post naps competition, but Oneofapear failed to justify the hype for the two in-form tipsters.

With five meetings across Britain and Ireland today there are 35 races in which the tipsters can hunt for a winner and five of them are focusing on the 19:40 at Ffos Las.

Gary Nutting of the Sunday Mirror may be on a terrible losing streak of 13 straight days without a winning nap, but following his naps this year would still see you in profit and he’s one of the five leading the case for Cape Classic today.

19:40 Ffos Las: Cape Classic – 6/4

This Class 4 Handicap will be contested by six horses over six furlongs and Cape Classic currently heads the betting at 6/4.

William Haggas’ three-year-old registered his first career victory in five starts at Salisbury just over a week ago and has been raised just 2lb by the handicapper for that performance.

Cape Classic has been fairly consistent in his first five starts and with three places and a win so far but in Cruise Tothelimit (11/4) he has a very able foe and it’s highly likely these two will battle it out for the win.

Two wins in the space of nine days during July means Cruise Tothelimit is chasing a hat-trick at Ffos Las today, and wins in a Class 5 Handicap and a Class 4 Handicap show better form than the favourite.

Patrick Morris’ three-year-old is up 3lb for his last win at Catterick and while his previous performances at Class 4 level have been poor, there’s no denying the horse is in great form.

However the form of Morris is no match for the form of Haggas who has a 44% strike rate at this course since it’s opening two years ago, and a win for Cape Classic today would take that strike rate to an incredible 50%.
