Palermo are not tempted to act on quotes from Man City forward

Mario Balotelli’s petulance during pre-season may have cost him his Manchester City career as he falls further down the pecking order.

Samir Nasri’s arrival at the club today adds another attacker to the Manchester City squad and for a side that play with one up front, Balotelli’s chances look numbered.

Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez are all ahead of Balotelli for a central starting spot, but even if the Italian were to play a wider role, he still has to contend with Aguero, Nasri, David Silva and Adam Johnson.

The Manchester club can boast a wealth of attacking talent following the arrivals of Aguero and Nasri this summer, and Balotelli may be one of the players who falls foul on Mancini’s new squad.

The Palermo-born Balotelli has been quoted as saying: “Where would I like to play? In Palermo. I’d like to go there. It’s a beautiful, sunny place. ”

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has ruled out any move for the Manchester City forward because of the financial implications it would have on the club, but it’s yet another statement from Balotelli that is sure to upset his manager.

Roberto Mancini was the man who handed Balotelli his first start at Inter and was brave enough to bring him to Manchester City so he won’t be willing to let the Italian go cheaply.

Mancini obviously sees something great in Balotelli but he has plenty of quality in depth in his squad, and dealing with the childish Balotelli is bound to take its toll.

Palermo may not want him but somebody will, and Balotelli could be on his way out of Eastlands before the end of the transfer window.
