Hull, Southampton and Ipswich can lead Carling Cup accumulator

Published:

Tonight’s Carling Cup fixtures may have been marred by the violence in London, but there is still plenty happening and a tidy profit can be turned tonight.

Here are the three teams that we think will enhance any accumulator tonight, and with international football also in action, there are plenty of fixtures to choose from.

Hull City to beat Macclesfield Town at 4/9

Nigel Pearson will be desperate to get back on track after Hull City’s home loss to Blackpool on the opening weekend of the Championship season. A home fixture against League Two Macclesfield Town will prove the ideal tonic.

Hull ran out 4-0 winners the last time the sides met in a cup competition so expect goals in this encounter and a comfortable Tigers 3-0 win at 6/1 is tempting.

Ipswich Town to beat Northampton Town at 4/9

Ipswich are many punters favourites for Premier League promotion this season and started the campaign in fine form with a thumping 3-0 win away at Bristol City.

The two sides met at Portman Road in the fourth round of this competition last season, with the Tractor Boys running out comfortable 3-1 winners – They’re at 9/1 to do the same this year.

Southampton to beat Torquay United at 2/5

Torquay have never won at Southampton and that statistic looks unlikely to change in tonight’s fixture. The Saint’s have started the season well with a 3-1 win at home over Leeds United and the home support will be expecting more of the same.

Torquay pushed Reading all the way to extra time at this stage of the competition last season, but without the home support this time around their chances of progressing are slim.

Add Hull, Ipswich and Southampton to the following and you can get 26/1 for this seven-fold:

Burnley to beat Burton Albion at 2/5
Brighton to beat Gillingham at 1/2
Middlesbrough to beat Walsall at 1/1
MK Dons to beat Cheltenham at 6/5
