Forget Fabregas & Nasri, another fan favourite set to leave Arsenal

Busy transfer windows at Arsenal have not been common in recent seasons, but it seems that Emmanuel Eboue is the latest midfielder set to depart the Emirates.

Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri seem only days away from completing their respective transfers to Barcelona and Manchester City, despite Arsene Wenger stating that both would definitely not be leaving in this transfer window.

Meanwhile, Denilson has also weakened midfield options by returning on loan to Sao Paolo in Brazil, although this switch has not started in the best fashion as he has already been sent off twice.

However, Gervinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have arrived to challenge for places in the wide areas and it is the signing of the former that appears to spell the end of Eboue’s time at Arsenal.

Squad lists have now been announced and Eboue is nowhere to be seen.

Despite wearing number 22 throughout pre-season, Gervinho has been handed the number 27 shirt for the Premier League campaign, which is the number that has previously belonged to Eboue.

Galatasaray are one club that have been previously linked with the Ivory Coast international, while there is also likely to be interest for his signature from Italy.

Although Eboue has the reputation for being a bit of a clown and joker at Arsenal, his Premier League experience and contentment at being a squad player could be missed as the Gunners battle in four competitions this season.

Arsenal’s odds are 10/1 to win the Premier League, but their best chance of winning a first trophy since 2005 may lie in the domestic cup competitions.

It is 8/1 that Arsenal win the FA Cup and the same price they triumph in the Carling Cup, which is a competition that they reached the final in last season.
