Cook 11/8 to become first England player to reach 23 centuries
Published:Alastair Cook is the 11/8 favourite with Ladbrokes to become the first England cricketer to reach 23 test centuries after notching his nineteenth ton at Edgbaston.
With a number of the current side gaining rapidly on the England record of 22 hundreds, Ladbrokes have opened a book on who will become first to break the mark. Andrew Strauss, who has also scored nineteen tons, is 2/1 to be first to reach the tally, with Kevin Pietersen (18 centuries) priced at 9/4, and Ian Bell (15 centuries) the outsider at 16/1.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said, “We think it’s a question of when, not if, one of the current crop of England batsmen will break the record and Cook’s red hot form in the last twelve months makes him our favourite.”
