Clubs to clamp down on Twitter?

Published:

NEWCASTLE ARE now the 7/4 favourites to be the first club to ban Twitter, according to Ladbrokes.

Following Barton’s outburst and subsequent transfer listing the bookies have also slashed the odds on any club imposing a social media ban on a particular player to evens (from 3/1).

Mick McCarthy and Sir Alex Ferguson’s opinions of the site are well known and Wolves (7/2) and Manchester United (4/1) are also prominent in the betting.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Barton’s tweet may have been the final straw. We think it’s only a matter of time before the clubs clamp down.”
