Bookies sweating on 200/1 Perry Presidential punt

Published:

Rick Perry is now 5/1 with Ladbrokes in the 2012 US Presidential race.

Perry’s progress is superb news for one punter who had the foresight to back him for the Whitehouse at 200/1 in 2009 as Perry is now the 5/1 joint second favourite with Mitt Romney.

Obama drifts from 4/6 having been as short as 1/2 earlier in the summer and even-money Iowa caucus favourite Michelle Bachmann is a 16/1 chance.

Mitt Romney and Rick Perry now also share 13/8 favouritism in the quest to become the Republican nominee

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “The Perry backer is holding onto a decent looking voucher now. They must have had their crystal ball out as we didn’t see that one coming.”

He added: “Obama drifts slightly but remains firmly in contention. Of the chasing pack Romney and Bachmann look live runners as well.”
