Blackburn vs Everton: Focus on goals rather than result

Published:

Blackburn and Everton could both do with a victory to kick-start their seasons and one thing that is almost guaranteed at Ewood Park is that goals will be few and far between.

Match Odds

One thing that is guaranteed from the showdown is that at least one of the two clubs will collect their first points of the current season, with Everton losing at home to QPR, while Blackburn have been defeated in both of their opening two fixtures.

History suggests that it is Everton who are more likely to achieve victory, as they have triumphed in three of their last four Premier League outings against Blackburn.

Meanwhile, Blackburn have only won two of their last 16 league matches and have been particularly poor at home, tasting success in just one of their last eight at Ewood Park.

However, Everton have won only two of their last ten away games.

Everton are slight favourites in the Premier League odds at 11/8 and Blackburn are 2/1 to claim maximum points.

Although the most likely result may be the draw, which can be backed at 9/4.

Both teams also receive some big news on the fitness front, with Blackburn looking forward to welcoming captain Chris Samba back, while Mikel Arteta is in line to make his first Premier League start of the season for Everton.

Over/Under 2.5 goals

Everton’s last three Premier League games have ended 1-0 and it is eight league fixtures since they found the target in the opening 45 minutes.

Throw in that Blackburn are light in the striking department and have failed to score in seven of their last 12 Premier League games with Everton and there is every reason to suggest that it will not be a classic at Ewood Park.

The 8/13 on offer for under 2.5 goals being scored looks the best bet of the game.
