14:00 York: Roger Sez this is her time to topple Crown Dependency
It wasn’t a great day for the punters at York yesterday with just the one winning favourite and the two strongly fancied horses getting beat.
However today marks a brand new dawn and we think we’ve found a very strong chance in the opening race, the DBS Premier Yearling Stakes.
Crown Dependency is currently making all the headlines and as Richard Hannon’s colt drops back from Group company to this Class 2 race, he is the very short favourite at 2/1.
In a 20-runner field that is always a dangerous price and Crown Dependency disappointed at Glorious Goodwood in the Molecomb stakes having started the race as the 100/30 favourite.
However the horse is back to his favoured trip of six furlongs today and there’s no doubt he has the class to win this race, although at such a short price you’re better off looking for value elsewhere.
Based on the trends we’ve narrowed the 20-man field down to two and the two to keep an eye on are Bogart (11/1) and Roger Sez (16/1).
Something didn’t seem right with Bogart following his run in the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and while excuses weren’t made, it’s fair to think that run didn’t represent his best form.
At Ayr on his maiden start Bogart was very impressive and on the basis of that run, he has a strong chance today although the pick is the filly, Roger Sez, who can upstage her male counterparts today.
Tim Easterby has two winners from nine runners in this race and his smart filly may be up in class today, but she is progressing strongly having won all of her last three starts.
Drawn 17, she should not get lost among the big field and while the favourite will be tough to beat, Roger Sez may just have the speed to pip Crown Dependency.
