The Safety Net – Spain to win a football match never a bad bet
Backing Spain to win matches at any age level has to be a prudent football betting strategy and that is exactly what The Safety Net is doing today as the European Under-19 Championships have reached the semi-final stage.
Spain’s Nicolas Almagro was successful in the latest safety net bet, although we had to wait until this morning to discover that he had beaten Jarkko Nieminen in the second round of the Credit Agricole Suisse Open after rain had delayed the conclusion of the match.
Almagro’s straight-set victory took the bank balance of the safety net bet to £411.50 and we are expecting to add another £20 today as Spain face Ireland in Romania in the last four of the European Under-19 Championships.
Spain have reached the final of the tournament in five of the last nine years and there only defeat in these finals was last year when they lost to France.
Meanwhile, they were comfortable winners of their opening two matches in the group stages, sticking four goals past both Belgium and Serbia.
A weakened team then lost 3-0 to Turkey when qualification to the semi-finals had already been sealed and the fact they managed two own goals in the process should make it easy to draw a line through this result.
Furthermore, Spain have Alvaro Morata in their ranks, who has already appeared in the Real Madrid first team and scored four goals in the opening two victories before being rested for the Turkey defeat.
Ireland will hope to frustrate Spain with their workrate, but it remains unlikely that they will be able to keep the Spanish forwards quiet for 90 minutes, particularly as the strike force also includes promising Barcelona youngster Gerard Deulofeu.
Spain are 4/9 in the football odds to beat Ireland inside the 90 minutes and we will be staking £45 on this result to fulfil our daily aim of making £20.
Today’s stake: £45
Best case scenario: £431.50
Worst case scenario: £266.50
Last Safety Net bet: Nicolas Almagro to beat Jarkko Nieminen @ 1/4
Wealth warning: although we are confident the safety net bet’s strategy will be profitable over a period of time, the nature of sport means we cannot guarantee you will win every single time.
