Tevez and Given in sprint to be first out of the Man City door

Manchester City and Corinthians have come to an agreement for Carlos Tevez confirmed Roberto Mancini this morning.

With Shay Given having undergone a medical at Aston Villa on Saturday, the race is on between the two players to see who can get out of the club the fastest.

While Given played second fiddle to Joe Hart in the Manchester City goal last season, he will also play second fiddle to Carlos Tevez in this transfer window but Given’s coup for Aston Villa should not be underestimated.

Given will provide the Villa backline with some much needed stability following Brad Friedal’s departure, and Alex McLeish can now start building his defence ahead of the new season.

Tevez looks to have finally found a way out of a city he so clearly detests, although the agreed deal is yet to be revealed and Mancini’s comments suggest there is still some way to go until this deal is completed.

“We have an agreement with Corinthians but Carlos now is still a City player,” said Mancini.

Quizzed on whether Tevez will be discussing personal terms with the Brazilian club, Mancini said: “”I don’t know this. I repeat, at the moment, Carlos is still a City player.

“I want to wait. At the moment we are here, we are working with the other guys. We should think about this.”

It seems as if Mancini is leaving the door open as wide as possible for Tevez to reject a move to Corinthians but, with the door wide open, both Tevez and Given can make their escape routes out of the club.

The Tevez saga is yet to come to an end and there is life in it yet, but the Manchester City fans should be preparing for life without their captain next season.
