Stoke to compliment Dann signing with move for Olympiakos defender

Stoke City’s deal for Birmingham City pair Scott Dann and Cameron Jerome has stalled but the Potters are confident that the deal will go through next week.

The two clubs have agreed a fee – believed to be in the £15m region – for both players but Stoke are yet to agree personal terms with the two players and it is thought Dann is holding out for a move to a top four club.

However Arsenal and Chelsea’s interest in Dann has waned and Stoke should wrap up both players at some point next week as Pulis begins his summer of spending.

Next on the list for Pulis is Olympiakos defender Vassilis Torosidis and the Greek international is available for a fee around £6m.

The 26-year-old can play as either a right-back or left-back and can also be used in midfield as Pulis looks to strengthen his squad with a top-ten target in mind next season.

Both Dann and Torosidis will be strong signings for Stoke but their problems last season were up front with Sunderland, West Ham United, Wigan and Birmingham being the only sides to score less.

Stoke have four strikers on their books but Kenwyne Jones could only manage nine league goals in 33 starts last season and Jon Walters managed just six goals in 27 league games as the four strikers managed just 28 goals between them in all competitions.

Jerome had a poor season for Birmingham last year but managed double figures for the Blues in his two previous seasons.

His goals would be a welcome addition at the Britannia should he complete his move but Pulis needs to invest in a striker that can guarantee 15 plus goals a season and should he find his man, Stoke will be challenging for the Europa League places next season.
