Rangers face battle with Cardiff for services of Scottish striker
Published:It’s fair to say Kenny Miller’s spell with Turkish club Bursaspor has never really taken off.
Having signed for the club from Rangers in January the Scottish forward has failed to settle in Turkey and Bursaspor have accepted that the striker needs to move on.
Rangers are very keen to bring Miller back to Ibrox for a third spell and Ally McCoist is doing everything he can to land the player who finished the season as the top goalscorer in the Scottish Premier League despite only playing for six months of the season.
However Cardiff have entered the race for Miller’s services this morning and Malky Mackay is confident of tempting the Scottish international to South Wales.
Having lost Craig Bellamy, Jay Bothroyd and Michael Chopra, Cardiff are in real need of strikers and while Mackay has brought back Robert Earnshaw, Miller would be a real coup for the Welsh club.
Miller’s goalscoring prowess is pretty remarkable considering he achieved the Scottish golden boot by scoring 21 goals in 18 league appearances, and despite his levels of homesickness in Turkey, Miller still managed five goals in 15 appearances for Bursaspor.
With 171 goals in 483 appearances across his 14-year career, Miller averages a goal every three games and his prowess in front of goal would be a real asset to either Rangers or Cardiff.
Despite winning the SPL last season, Rangers are the underdogs in the battle with Celtic for next season’s title.
Celtic are the 4/5 favourites to land the title next season and Rangers are available at 1/1, but the acquisition of Miller would see Rangers come in for plenty of support.
Cardiff are 16/1 to win the Championship next season and having failed to gain promotion at the final hurdle once again, the Bluebirds will be hoping Miller can bring the goals to finally see them into the Premier League.
Both clubs will battle hard for his services and it all depends on whether or not Miller feels he’s achieved as much as he can with Rangers.
