Pick of the Pundits: Green Destiny dominates the naps table

Published:

Labarinto was the star choice among the pundits yesterday and he duly obliged in the first at Goodwood, landing the solid gamble.

Despite it being a day for the punters rather than the bookies yesterday, just nine of the Racing Post naps competition tipsters found a winner yesterday in a month where a lot are struggling for form.

Today sees almost a fifth of them plump for the short favourite Green Destiny in the totesport Mile at 15:10, which is all the more reason to go against it.

You can read our race preview here but in brief, this isn’t the greatest of races for favourite backers and while Green Destiny certainly has the ability to outshine this field, his Royal Ascot flop is a worry.

Only two of the nine tipsters can boast a profit for a £1 stake this month and none of them can boast a profit for the year.

Newsboy of the Daily Mirror is returning £11.31 for a £1 stake on his naps this month and following The Guardian’s naps would see you £3.42 up for a £1 stake.

However Eamonn Gavigan of the Nottingham Evening Post, Reur Cushman of the Weekender and Peter Thickett of The Star are having nightmare months and their form outweighs the two in profit.

It doesn’t read well for fans of Green Destiny today and at such a short price in a 21-runner field, it’s worth looking elsewhere.

On the basis of his Royal Ascot form coupled with the form of the tipsters napping him, Green Destiny is one to avoid today and we’re tipping Boom And Bust at to land the feature race at 14/1.
