Pacquaio sparring suggests Judah can’t KO Khan
Published:Amir Khan is convinced that he will not lose his light-welterweight title unification bout with Zab Judah by KO, because he has never been floored by the best punches that Manny Pacquiao has thrown in sparring ahead of the fight.
Khan has a reputation for having a weak chin following his 54-second defeat to Breidis Prescott in 2008, which remains his only defeat.
He went some way to rectifying this image by going 12 rounds with hard-hitting Marcos Maidana late last year, although some viewers remain convinced that Khan was saved by the referee on at least one occasion when taking punishment.
However, Khan is keen to prove his critics wrong once and for all against Judah and is sure that he will not get knocked down in Las Vegas.
Khan said: “In sparring when I get hit with a clean shot by big guys who are 154 pounds, I get straight back at them. That’s my style. I’ve proved I’ve probably got one of the best chins in the boxing business. I’ve been hit with huge shots in sparring.
“Manny’s hit me with a clean back hand, his hardest shot, and I walked straight onto it and still stood there. I spar with him and he’s knocked lots of sparring partners out who are heavier.”
Khan is also yet to be knocked down at all since joining the training camp of Freddie Roach after his Prescott defeat.
Based on Khan’s comments, punters thinking Judah will add the WBA belt to the IBF light-welterweight title he already holds are best served taking the 14/1 that he claims victory on points.
Khan is also confident that he possesses the power to KO Judah and it is 4/5 in the boxing odds that this is his method of victory.
