It will cost £15m for Taarabt to leave QPR and join Arsenal friends

Arsenal may be the chosen destination of Adel Taarabt if he is to leave Queens Park Rangers this summer, but it may take an offer in excess of £15m to prize him away from the Premier League newcomers.

QPR manager Neil Warnock has already indicated that his gut feeling is that his star player is more likely to leave than stay, with four or five clubs across Europe believed to be interested in the 22-year-old.

Paris Saint Germain have already tested QPR’s resolve with an offer of £13m, but comments from Warnock suggest that this does not meet their asking price.

Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal are also thought to be admirers of the Moroccan and therefore would need to better this offer to have a greater chance to signing Taarabt.

If Arsenal do sell Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri this summer, they would certainly benefit from midfield attacking options and Warnock has hinted that the Gunners have the best chance of capturing Taarabt.

Warnock said: “PSG have made an enquiry and they obviously offer him the chance to be nearer to home, although there is a Spanish club being mentioned as well.

“As far as his talk of wanting to go to Chelsea or Arsenal, I know he has a lot of friends at Arsenal. My advice to him is to stay until Christmas, get some experience and show people what he can do. I think he will regret leaving.”

Staying in London should be ideal for Taarabt thanks to the time he has spent at both Tottenham and QPR and the fact that he has previously played for Spurs is unlikely to affect this move.

Keeping Taarabt could be critical if QPR are to survive this season and losing him may cause their Premier League odds for relegation to shorten from 7/4.
