Form of Aguero may convince Man City to accept new Tevez offer

Sergio Aguero’s form in the Copa America could tempt the Manchester City board to consider the new £39m offer from Corinthians for Carlos Tevez.

Manchester City are believed to value Tevez at £50m and are in a very strong position to negotiate with the Argentine locked into a long-term contract.

It’s unlikely this improved offer from Corinthians will be enough to persuade Manchester City to depart with Tevez, but the form of Aguero poses an interesting proposition for Manchester City.

The Argentine striker who has scored three goals in Argentina’s three group games and has kept Tevez out of the team has confirmed that he is willing to move to England, leaving Manchester City and Real Madrid battling for his signature.

Atletico Madrid value Aguero at £45m and if Manchester City can get that for Tevez from Corinthians quickly, a deal for Aguero could also be completed reasonably quickly.

Manchester City will not make a move for Aguero until Tevez’s future is clarified, but with Aguero’s value increasing by the day in the Copa America, they may have to move quicker than expected.

Jose Mourinho is in the market for a new striker and while any move for Aguero will be affected by politics, Real Madrid are in a position to tempt the player to make the switch across the Spanish capital.

Losing Tevez will be a huge blow for Manchester City but with the player intent on leaving, the club will need to find a suitable replacement.

Aguero’s form in the Copa America suggests he’s finally maturing into the talent that was expected of him and he would be a very exciting prospect for Manchester City next season.

Argentina take on Uruguay in the quarter-final of the Copa America tonight and more magic from Aguero can be seen live on ESPN.
