Evra tells fellow Frenchman Man Utd is the place to win trophies

There is more than a strong possibility that Samir Nasri will be playing in Manchester this coming Premier League season, but Patrice Evra is hoping that he can prove the trump card in whether the Arsenal midfielder moves to Manchester City or Manchester United.

Roberto Mancini’s men look to be the favourites as they are prepared to stump up a higher transfer fee than the £20m that Manchester United have already had rejected, while they can also offer the greater wages.

Furthermore, no player has moved from Arsenal to Manchester United in the Premier League era and Arsene Wenger will certainly not want one of his star players to make such a switch.

However, if Nasri is determined to head to Old Trafford then Arsenal’s hands may be tied and Evra has spelt out the simple reason as to why his French colleague should sign for Manchester United.

Evra said: “Of course I would like to see Samir at United. I’ve talked a lot with him during the holiday and told him how great it is to play for Manchester United. I said, ‘If you want to win trophies you have to come here.’ In five years I’ve won 12 trophies.

“I just told him the truth. If he goes to City, it’s his choice, but I know, as a player, if I have Manchester United and Manchester City, I would go straightaway for United.

“It’s a lot of things. It can be for the money, many different things. But I would prefer to go for the glory.”

Manchester United are the 13/8 favourites in the Premier League odds to successfully defend their title, with Manchester City 7/2 and Arsenal 9/1.

Meanwhile, it is 13/2 for the Premier League forecast of Manchester United being crowned champions and Manchester City finishing second.
