Djokovic comes through thriller to secure spot in Wimbledon final

Rafael Nadal will be knocked off the top of the world rankings come Monday following Novak Djokovic’s victory over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the Wimbledon semi-final.

While Djokovic will be cleary delighted to earn the world number one tag, the Serb will be concentrating on getting ready for his first Wimbledon final on Sunday.

It was third time lucky for Djokovic following defeats in two previous semi-finals at SW19, and the Serb will be looking to add the Wimbledon title to his two Australian Open titles.

Djokovic will be waiting for either Nadal or Andy Murray in the final, and the Serb can be confident of beating whoever he plays.

The Serb has lost just one match all year and has beaten Nadal in all four ATP tour finals this year while he has beaten Murray on both of their meetings this year.

Nadal and Murray know they’re in a fight today but whoever emerges victorious today, faces an even bigger battle on Sunday.

Despite suffering just the one loss all year, Djokovic was priced as the third favourite for Wimbledon pre-tournament, and the bookmakers will be hoping the Serb wins as all of the money had been on Federer or is on Murray or Nadal.

It’s strange to think that a man who has been so dominant this year can be the best result for the bookmakers but Djokovic’s defeat in the French Open semi-final ended all the hype surrounding his unbeaten run.

In his first Wimbledon final the future world number one will be feeling the pressure, but on the basis of his results this year it’s hard to bet against him.
