Bookies relishing England victory – hosts now 1/4 for the series

England are now 1/4 to win the India test series according to Ladbrokes.

The bookies relished the host’s victory having laid the draw consistently at top price from 6/4 upon announcement of the series through to 4/6 on the morning of the game and have come out in front thanks to several five figure bets on a stalement over the weekend.

It’s 11/10 England win the second test with the draw priced at 7/4. India are 3/1 to level the series at Trent Bridge. Sachin Tendulkar is also expected to hit the landmark century of centuries in the next test at 2/1 however it’s also now just 3/1 that he fails to reach the record on this tour (should he play four games).

England’s price to become the number one test team has also been slashed to 5/6 (from 3/1) meaning it’s now also 5/6 India remain at the top of the rankings.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Turnover was on a par with an Ashes test. We saw plenty of business for all three outcomes and our decision to lay the draw has paid off.”

he added: “Providing the weather doesn’t change we’re also expecting a result at Trent Bridge.”
