Bolton hoping to add some Catalan flair after Barcelona accept bid

It seems Jeffren Suarez’s time as a Barcelona player is up after Bolton Wanderer’s £5m bid for the attacker was accepted by the Catalan club.

Jeffren had been offered as a makeweight in the deal for Alexis Sanchez but was reluctant to move to Italy and as yet Barcelona still haven’t secured the services of Sanchez.

But that won’t matter to Bolton who have become the only club to table, and have accepted, a solid bid for the forward and Owen Coyle is desperate to fly the attacker out to the club’s training camp in America in order to convince the 23-year-old that the Premier League is the right place for his skills.

Having been reluctant to move to Italy, it remains to be seen whether or not the Venezuelan-born forward will be keen on a move to England, but with his options at Barcelona limited and with no bids from elsewhere, Bolton fans could be in for a real coup.

Sevilla, Valencia and Atletico Madrid are all interested in the Barcelona forward but are yet to put any offers on the table and like we’ve seen with the transfer of Connor Wickham, the bid on the table lands the player.

Wickham wanted to go to Liverpool and Kenny Dalglish was interested, but the club never tabled a bid and Sunderland were able to convince Wickham to move north.

Jeffren may hold out for a bid from the Spanish club but having been transfer-listed by Barcelona, his days are numbered and Coyle will be confident of convincing the forward to move to Bolton.

There are only two strikers on the books at Bolton and Coyle is in desperate need of adding to his forward line.

Jeffren isn’t the most prolific goalscorer but his assists will be well welcomed by Kevin Davies and Ivan Klasnic, but both players will be hoping their manager adds another striker to the squad.
