Aguero confirms via Twitter that he will be a Manchester city player

Manchester City look set to confirm the signing of Sergio Aguero for a reported £35m fee today.

Communicating via Twitter at 10am this morning Aguero said: “Just landed in Manchester to finalise details of my signing for City. Everything’s going very well! I’ll tell you more in a little bit.”

Roberto Mancini has been keen on Aguero for a while and while many speculated the Argentine would not arrive at Manchester City until a deal for Carlos Tevez had been sorted, it looks near certain that Tevez will have a new Argentine teammate today.

Whether Aguero’s arrival is enough to convince Tevez to stay remains to be seen but having proven his form in the Copa America, Aguero is a real coup for Manchester City considering the interest from Real Madrid.

Manchester City remain 7/2 to win the Premier League and if Tevez leaves, Aguero’s signing can be seen as like-for-like which would have little influence on the Premier League odds.

However with very few teams interested in securing the services of Tevez for the £50m price tag, the two Argentines could be Manchester City’s attacking line next season and that would be a frightening prospect for any Premier League defence.

If Tevez stays – that’s a big if considering the player’s stance on leaving – you can expect Manchester City’s Premier League title odds to shorten.

Wether you agree with Tevez or not, there’s no reason to doubt his commitment to the club if he fails to engineer a move away in this transfer window and the player will still commit to his performances on the pitch.

Aguero’s transfer fee is a club record for Manchester City and the Argentine is expected to take home around £150,000-a-week.
