All eyes will be on Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes for today’s Molecomb Stakes as the pair look to continue Hannon’s strong record in this race.

Both of the last two renewals have gone to the Wiltshire trainer and in Crown Dependency (9/2), they have a favourite who is likely to be heavily supported in the build up to the race.

With the pace expected to be in the middle of this five furlong sprint, Crown Dependency has been handed a plum draw in stall eight but it’s the horse three stalls down that punters should be concentrating on today.

While this may be a sprint for two-year-olds, there are plenty of trends to go on today and Stonefield Flyer fulfils them all.

All of the last 10 winners had finished first or second in at least 50 per cent of their starts and Stonefield Flyer can boast a 100 per cent record in this department.

10 of the last 10 winners were distance winners, eight of the last 10 finished in the first three last time out and 10 out of 10 have a Racing Post rating of at least 108.

Not only does Stonefield Flyer fill all of this criteria but Keith Dalgleish’s two-year-old also has the form to back it up.

Frederick Engels has become one of the two-year-olds of the season having won the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot and the July Stakes at Newmarket.

Stonefield Flyer was two lengths behind Frederick Engels in the Windsor Stakes and has subsequently gone on to justify very short favouritism at Doncaster.

He is bidding to become the third Windsor Stakes runner up to land this race and at 9/1 to win today Stonefield Flyer can make return a huge profit for punters.
