However he flopped at Royal Ascot and as this race doesn’t hold the greatest of results for favourites, he’s worth opposing today in favour of a bigger price.
The second-favourite Sagramor has tremendous claims for this race but there are concerns about how he will handle the ground.
This week we have seen the younger horses upstage their rivals and Sagramoor, winner of the two biggest handicaps over a mile for three-year-olds this season, has been handed a plum draw.
At 6/1, the bottom weight should fly down the Goodwood track and he’s well worth an each-way flutter, but because of the ground concerns preference is for Boom And Bust.
Hayley Turner returns to the saddle of Boom And Bust having already won twice on him this season, and with the trends going in his favour, Boom And Bust can make all today.
His plum draw means he will have no troubles finding the front to make the running and while he needs a career best to land this race, he can certainly find it.
He’s shown the speed needed to win this race and at 14/1 Marcus Tregoning’s four-year-old looks a huge price to land the feature race of the day.
The Rectifier finished ahead of Boom And Bust at Windsor last time out and he is worth a look at 16/1, but he is 10lb worse off than today’s selection and that looks a lot of weight to make up.
