The Safety Net – Transfer to start the next winning run

Published:

The safety net bet suffered a rare blip yesterday when So You Think was beaten at Royal Ascot and so we are turning our attentions to one of horse racing’s smaller meetings today in order to rediscover the winning feeling.

So You Think was 2/5 to win the Prince of Wales Stakes and the selection looked like the winner 2f from home, until being collared virtually on the line by Rewilding in what has been arguably the best race over the opening two days of Royal Ascot.

This defeat has seen our bank balance reduced to £115.50, but we are still showing a healthy profit on our initial £50.

With our aim of throwing up a winner each day that will boost our balance by £20, we are shying away from the Royal Ascot odds and heading to Warwick, where Transfer should be tough to beat.

Transfer is 1/2 to win the House Of Fraser Leamington Handicap at 16:45 and appears to be the class horse in the Class Six showdown over 1m2f.

Any repeat of Transfer’s win last week at Haydock, where the distance and conditions were the same, should easily be enough to land the spoils.

What is perhaps most significant is that Richard Price’s horse is set to be raised 11lb by the handicapper in the future, but avoids the penalty at Warwick because of the fact that his Haydock win was only a week ago.

The remainder of the Warwick field do not look up to much, with Magnitude liable to be battling it out for the minor places.

Because of Transfer’s price, we will be staking £40 on him claiming victory, which will meet our requirements of making a £20 profit.

Current Status:
Bank: £115.50
Today’s Stake: £40
Best Case Scenario: £135.50
Worst Case Scenario: £75.50

Wealth warning: although we are confident the safety net bet’s strategy will be profitable over a period of time, the nature of sport means we cannot guarantee you will win every single time.
