Galivant duly obliged the huge gamble at Chepstow yesterday and his 12-length victory over a poor field could have been even longer had Martin Dwyer not eased his ride heavily inside the final furlong.

Soderling is the 2/9 favourite to beat German Perschner today, and the reason Soderling’s Wimbledon odds are short in comparison to say Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a 1/50 to win his first round match, is because Petschner lost in the final at Halle last week.
Soderling arrives in Wimbledon having not played since losing to Rafael Nadal in the French Open, but last year’s Wimbledon quarter-finalist should be good enough to justify his favouritism today.
The Swede has made a first round exit at Wimbledon three times, but on two of those occasions he was the underdog and he hasn’t been beaten in the first round since 2006.
Since that 2006 defeat to Tim Henman, the only two people to defeat Soderling at Wimbledon are Nadal and Roger Federer, and the Swede is a very tough opponent on the grass courts.
Petzchner played his first Wimbledon tournament in 2008 and has won three of his eight matches at SW19, but the world number 67 has never faced anyone of Soderling’s quality in the first round and his Wimbledon will end early.
