Pick of the Pundits – The Best Bets of Today’s Press

Manoori is the choice of the tipsters to be the best bet of today’s horse racing cards at Nottingham, Cartmel, Fontwell, Ripon and Kempton.

Almost every publication has their recognised tipster and five today have napped the lightly-raced Manoori to win the 14:40 at Nottingham, including Newsboy from the Daily Mirror, the Guardian and The Racing Post’s RP Ratings.

Manoori is just odds-on at 10/11 to claim victory and this is largely based on his performance when finishing sixth at York in a hot sprint contest on his latest start.

Chris Wall’s horse was drawn down the wrong side of the course and encountered traffic problems in running, meaning that he did well to finish as strongly as he did.

The second, third and fifth from the York contest have all gone on to win since and Manoori should be able to follow suit in race that is of a lesser quality.

The other main horses catching the eye are Submission and Pepper Lane, who have each received four naps each.

Karl Hedley from The Irish Field is currently top of the tipsters in terms of profits to a £1 stake and he believes Submission will win the 16:50 at Nottingham.

Submission is clearly well thought of by connections based on the fact she still holds an entry in the Group Two Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot later this month and her handicap mark does seem to be on the low side.

She finished strongly behind Oaks entry Beatrice Aurore last time after not getting a clear run and 9/4 looks decent value that she will beat a decent field, where Manaaber could present the biggest threat.

Each-way punters can get 6/1 on Pepper Lane winning the 20:10 at Ripon and the horse looks in good form after showing marked improvement to win over course and distance last month, although this renewal is tougher.
